Baseball Takes Series Against Ventura, Former Pitcher Makes Spring Training Debut
Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Pierce Baseball team took two out of three games against Ventura College. Freshman shortstop Christian Santiago had a big day at the plate with three hits and four RBIs. Second baseman Dylan Simon added three RBIs on two hits as well. Sophomore pitcher Nicolas Tomack earned the win with four and a two-third scoreless innings out of the bullpen, only allowing three hits. In the rubber match, Pierce outlasted Ventura 6-3.
The top of the order had a huge day at the plate. Wyatt La Marsna, Christian Santiago, and JJ Torrente combined for five hits and six RBIs. La Marsna who batted leadoff scored three runs as Santiago and Torrente drove him in multiple times. Pierce used only two pitchers; Nicolas Tomack got the start pitching just over three innings. Freshman pitcher Brayden Briscoe recorded the save going nearly six innings allowing no runs and only two hits.
Former Brahma pitcher Johnathan Lavallee had the opportunity to pitch for the Toronto Blue Jays in Spring Training. Lavallee pitched for Pierce during the 2018 and 2019 seasons while then transferring to Long Beach State.
