Baseball Sweeps Moorpark, Moves To First In Conference
The Los Angeles Pierce Baseball team enjoyed great success over the weekend, The Brahmas swept the series against Moorpark College, and the sweep boosted their conference record to 7-2. The opening game was played at Moorpark, with the Brahmas winning 6-3. Sophomore Pitcher Justin Gottlieb pitched seven innings allowing just one run, sophomore left fielder JJ Torrente led the day at the playing with two RBIs.
The two sides then played a doubleheader on Sunday over at LA Valley. Pierce swept the day winning the opening game 3-2. Sophomore pitchers Raul Reyes and Patrick Fernandez only allowed six hits. Reyes pitched four innings allowing two runs, while Fernandez pitched the rest of the way with five scoreless innings. In the latter game, Pierce defeated Moorpark 5-2, Brayden Briscoe pitched a complete game only allowing six hits and one run, while also recording nine strikeouts. Freshman shortstop Christian Santiago increased his batting average to .411 with three hits and two RBIs.
Pierce now has a 13-8 record and a 7-2 conference record, on the season as they prepare to take on cross-town rivals LA Valley.
