Swim Partakes In Third Conference Meet
April 1, 2025
The Pierce College men's and women's swim team competed in Bakersfield this past week with another strong showing from both teams. The high-point swimmer of the meet for the men was freshman Jhan Loninia from Pierce College. Jhan was 1st in the 1650 free, 1st in the 400 IM, and 1st in the 200 IM. Watching Jhan come from behind and win the 400 IM by .1 tenth of a second was thrilling. Also scoring in the 400 IM from Pierce College were Matteo Podesta 4th, Cristian Aleman 6th, Ryan Sullivan 7th, and Jorge Rodas 8th. Freshman Matteo Podesta also scored 3rd in the 1650 free while Martin Jimenez was 7th. Freshman Christian Santiago Ferrer placed 7th in the 200 IM, 7th in the 400 IM, and 7th in the 200 breaststroke. It is wonderful to have an A, B, and C relay team from Pierce College because our men's team is so large.
Our men's and women's swim teams were each 3rd place out of 5 teams. We competed against Bakersfield, Valley, College of the Canyons, and Citrus. Melina Farabolini from Pierce College was 3rd in the 200 fly, 3rd in the 200 back, and 4th in the 400 IM. Freshman Baran Ebrahimi competed in the most competitive events and was 3rd in the 50 free, 3rd in the 100 free, and 5th in the 200 breaststroke. New swimmer Sabrena Navarro placed 7th in the 200 backstroke and 7th in the 200 IM. We are very proud of our Brahma swim team and the hard work and dedication they are showing. Anyone can come by the pool and watch them train from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 10:00 am. This week, we will be heading to the Pasadena Invitational at East Los Angeles College.
