In only the program's second season back, the Los Angeles Pierce College Men's Soccer team moved into a new conference division. Last year, they were in the Western State Conference North division, and now they are in the South.
The realignment brings them brand-new opponents. In their first home match, they took on Moorpark College, and they recorded a gritty 2-1 win.
It was a very close contest with both teams coming close to hazardous scoring opportunities. Forward Vic Cano scored just past the 15th-minute mark, good for his third goal of the season. Pierce ended the first half with the lead, but just over ten minutes in the second half Moorpark equalized.
Damian Lopez broke through the defense and went around the goalkeeper to put Pierce up 2-1. His second goal of the season. Moorpark desperately looked for a second goal, but they would record two red cards before the finale.
With the win Pierce moves to 1-1 in conference play, they'll host Allan Hancock on Friday, October 25 at 4:00 p.m.
