In what was a wild game, number 15 seeded LA Pierce came back from behind to defeat number 18 seeded Antelope Valley.
Both teams had close scoring opportunities during regulation but failed to capitalize.
After a 0-0 tie at end of regulation, the game went into extra time. The visitors made the most out of a corner kick and scored first.
Pierce responded in the second half of extra time, when sophomore May Htet Lu headed in a cross.
Pierce was awarded a penalty soon after but it saved. A penalty shootout determined who'd go through.
Brenda Medina was put in at goalkeeper for the shootout where she saved three penalties.
Sophomore Heidi Ricketts sent the AVC goalkeeper the wrong way to send the Brahmas to the next round. As Pierce won the shootout 3-1.
Pierce now travels to number two seeded Saddleback College. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. on Saturday November 18th.
