James Sims appointed head coach of Pierce Football
James Sims is stepping up as head football coach of the Pierce football program.
James Sims is stepping up as head football coach of the Pierce football program. Sims first came on as interim head coach in 2017 and returns to lead the Brahmas into the 2022 season. Sims also brings to the program over 20 years' experience as a high school football coach.
Sims was a Division I athlete playing for the University of Toledo, where a career-ending injury lead him to pursue his interest in strength training and conditioning. He has been with the Los Angeles Community College District for 8 years where he started his career at Southwest College and has been a fixture in the Pierce College Fitness Center as the fitness center coordinator and strength and conditioning coach for the Brahmas.
"We look forward to supporting Coach Sims in redeveloping the Pierce football program by focusing on the recruitment of local student-athletes and engaging our community. Coach Sims has great rapport with our Brahmas and has mentored our student-athletes on and off the field," stated Athletic Director Susan Armenta.
Sims has a Bachelors in Health and has a Masters in Athletic Administration.
