Puccio Named WSC Defensive Player of the Year, Brahmas Earn Postseason Honors
Pierce College sophomore Natalia Puccio has been named the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division Defensive Player of the Year to highlight the Brahmas list of postseason recognition. In total, the Brahmas had nine players earn All-WSC awards.
Defensive Natalia Puccio was named Western State Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the 2022 season. Puccio, who attended El Camino Real Charter High School, finished the regular season with 11 goals and 3 assists across 19 games, good for a shot percentage of .440.
The Brahmas finished the regular season ranked No. 8 in the state. They ended their post-conference run in the 2nd round to 9th seeded College of the Canyons.
Earning All-WSC First-Team honors were sophomores Brenda Alas (mid), Alexandra Meza (fwd/mid), and Freshman Malinaly De Los Santos (def). Alas recorded 1 goal and 8 assists across 18 games. Meza scored 5 goals with 7 assists over 18 games. De Los Santos, with 1 assist, was a fierce blocker on defense.
LAPC freshmen mid/forward May Htet Lu and forward Heidi Ricketts were both named to the All-WSC Second-Team. Htet Lu had a strong season for the Brahmas with 5 goals and 3 assists. Ricketts led the team in goals with 14 goals and 1 assist over 19 games.
LAPC freshmen forward/mid Nalani Casarez and Livia Pereira and defensive/mid Nicole Tardencilla all earned Honorable Mention designations. Casarez had 2 goals with 5 assists over 17 games. Pereira scored 6 goals with 9 assists, and Tardencilla had 2 assists.
The Brahmas end the season with a record of 13-5-5. Go Brahmas!
