2024 FALL SEMESTER STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
WEEK 1
Sophomore Maqael Henderson (no 9) led a fierce rally in the team's 27-7 opening win. Henderson recorded a total of four touchdowns. He recorded 187 passing yards on 14 attempts along with three touchdowns, while also adding 68 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

WEEK 3
This week’s Student-Athlete of the Week is Randy Peters, who showcased his incredible talent on the field with two impressive touchdowns during Saturday’s game. Peters had 58 rushing yards and a touchdown, and 42 receiving yards along with a receiving touchdown. The latter was a 35-yard reception with no time left in the first half. His versatility in several positions on the field was on display. He brought his season total touchdowns to four.
WEEK 4
Thrilled to announce that the student-athlete of the week is Sophomore Gilberto Chavez. As men’s soccer recorded their first win, Chavez scored the lone goal in the contest. It was the first goal of the season for number seven. A very early goal just three minutes in Pierce was able to hold on for the victory.
WEEK 5
This week’s student-athlete of the week is Adriana Villacana in two victories for the women’s soccer program she recorded seven saves and kept a clean sheet in both games. She has kept a clean sheet in her last three starts. Villacana has recorded over 21 saves on the season, way to go!
WEEK 6
This week's student-athlete of the week is Jocelyn Coronado. The freshman scored twice last week, grabbing goals in both contests against Ventura and Oxnard. Coronaado’s goal tally is now up to six on the season, and she is finding the back of the next quite frequently. As Pierce looks to build as much momentum as they can, Coronado figures to be a key piece in that.
WEEK 7
We are proud to announce that this week’s student-athlete is Santana Sakai. Sakai was able to grab a key early goal in the team's win against Allan Hancock, while also captaining the defense and playing a vital role in preserving the lead. Sakai has now found the back of the net twice this season.
WEEK 8
This week's student-athlete of the week is Adriana Luna. She has been a staple for the women’s volleyball team bringing energy and enthusiasm as a libero. She has played in every game and recorded 24 overall assists.
WEEK 9
This week’s student-athlete of the week is Tennoris Merkel for his outstanding versatility on the football field. Not only did they contribute on offense, defense, and special teams, but he excelled in every role they played. Merkel played every position except quarterback, catching passes, punting the football, and returning a kickoff for a touchdown. Whether it was making key plays, tackling with intensity, or showing relentless energy on special teams, he demonstrated true leadership and dedication to the game. His all-around performance is a testament to his hard work and commitment.
WEEK 10
We’re pleased to announce that Brenda Medina is our student-athlete of the week. Medina had an outstanding performance in the first round of the playoffs, scoring two incredible goals, and leading the team to victory. Her dedication, skill, and hard work on the field were on full display, making them a standout player and a true asset to the team.
WINTER 2025
WEEK ONE
Markus Steele is the student-athlete of the week. The freshman as previously mentioned took home an All-Tournament honorable mention. In two straight games, he recorded a double-double including 18 points and 20 rebound game to conclude the weekend. Steele is currently averaging a near double-double with 11 rebounds and eight points a game.
WEEK TWO
We are pleased to announce that the student-athlete of the week is Christian Santiago. The freshman shortstop was vital in the two Brahma wins over the weekend. He went 7 for 11 at the plate with 6 RBIs over the weekend, he also added three runs scored and one stolen base.
