Bio

Brett Marschall is establishing the LA Pierce College softball program after eight years as an Assistant Softball Coach at El Camino College and Marymount California University. During his tenure at El Camino College from 2015 to 2017, and 2022, the team posted a 121-56 record and won two South Coast Conference titles.  In 2017, they finished with a 37-8 record and went undefeated in conference play.  The team made the post-season in each year, advancing to Super Regionals in two of those years.  The coaching staff was recognized by being awarded the NFCA Coaching Staff of the Year in 2015.   In 2017, the team ranked in the top-10 in several categories, including 1st in California in runs scored and 7th in batting average.   Marschall coached 23 All-Conference Players, 7 All-State Honorees, and 4 All-Americans (including 1 Player of the Year). 

Marschall was the pitching coach and lead assistant at Marymount California University from 2017 to 2021. The team had a very successful stint while Marschall was involved with the program.  In 2019, the team improved to 34-15 and won the Cal Pac regular season and conference tournament for the first time.  The team earned the first NAIA Regional playoff berth in Medford, Oregon. As the pitching coach, the team’s ERA improved by two points from the 2018 to 2019 season, and Marschall developed the first NAIA All-American pitcher. The 2020 and 2021 seasons were incomplete due to COVID.  The overall team GPA increased to a cumulative of 3.0.  

Marschall realizes the value and impact of being a college student-athlete.  He played baseball throughout his four years of college in the US.  As an outfielder at Sacramento City College, he won a CA State Community College Championship in baseball his sophomore year.  Marschall continued his college baseball career at California State University, Stanislaus, where they finished runner-up in the NCAA National Championships his junior year.  His senior year, Marschall was team captain and an all-league selection. 

Marschall also played baseball internationally.   He was selected to the Australian Under-18 National Squad which played in the US.  He also played against national teams from Japan, South Korea, and Chinese-Taipei.  Marschall won the Rookie of the Year honors in the South Australian Baseball League.

Before beginning his college coaching career, Marschall coached travel and youth softball and baseball.  He also provided private instruction in both softball and baseball.  Marschall coached travel softball at various age levels, with teams reaching PGF Nationals at the 18U level.  Marschall also had a 20-year career as Senior Vice President in International and Commercial banking.

Marschall’s passion for teaching and coaching at the college level extends beyond the softball field.  He is in his fourth year as a full-time Economics professor at LA Pierce College. Marschall graduated cum-laude from CSU, Stanislaus with a bachelor’s degree in Economics before earning his master’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
