Men's Basketball Takes Third Place In AVC Tournament
The Los Angeles Pierce Men's Basketball took third place in the Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament at Antelope Valley College over the weekend. Pierce went 2-1, in a stretch where they played three games in three consecutive days.
In the opening game, the Brahmas defeated Southwestern College 83-80. Freshman Jordan Collins dropped 32 points, shooting 13-18 overall and 4-7 from the three-point arc. Sophomore Tyler Glisson added 13 points off the bench. Pierce dropped the second game 70-63 to Pasadena City. Freshman Markus Steele recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Jule Sims followed up a 10-assist game with 12 points, and freshman Armon "AC" Cole recorded 21 points off the bench.
The Brahmas concluded the tournament with a 73-67 victory over Victor Valley. Two players recorded tremendous stats. Sophomore Jule Sims put up 19 points 16 rebounds, and three assists. Freshman Markus Steele recorded 18 points and 20 rebounds.
Jule Sims was named to the All-Tournament team, and Markus Steele had an honorable mention.
LAPC has its next home game on Saturday, Dec 14 against LA Southwest. Tip-off is at 4:00 p.m.
