Baseball Begins Season with Two Wins
This past weekend marked Opening Day for the Los Angeles Pierce College baseball team, which began the season on the right foot. The Brahmas visited West Hills Coalinga for a two-game series, in which Pierce swept.
Friday's contest was a close 6-5 victory for Pierce. Sophomore Wyatt La Marsna scored the winning run on a passed ball. Freshman Christian Santiago went 3-5 at the plate with one RBI, while three Brahma pitchers combined to give up five runs. Sunday's affair saw the Brahmas score 14 runs. Santiago went 4-6 with 5 RBIs and sophomore JJ Torrente added two RBIs. Sophomore starter Justin Gottlieb was able to pitch five funs and keep the opposing offense at bay. The Brahmas are 2-0 on the young season before they visit El Camino College on Thursday, Jan 30 at 2 p.m.
