Football Moves to 2-2 With Road Win Over Desert
Despite a late field change and long bus ride, the LA Pierce College Football team was not phased pulling off a 35-29 road win over College of the Desert.
Pierce was firing on all cylinders on offense totaling over 400 yards. Desert took a first-quarter lead but the Brahmas scored 21 points in the second quarter. Sophomore quarterback Maqael Henderson scored on a 29-yard touch-down run. Henderson later threw a touchdown to Dante Holly Jr. and Will Lane.
Henderson finished with five total touchdowns and over 300 yards passing, he also added 74 rushing yards. Sophomore Tederrius Strowbridge had 141 receiving yards. Pierce did not relinquish the lead. Sophomores Randy Peters and Tennoris Merkel each caught touchdown passes in the second half. Desert was able to close the gap with a touchdown run but Pierce ran out the clock for the victory. On defense, James McMillan recorded an interception and Tyree Smith led the team in tackles with nine.
Pierce returns home to face Victor Valley on Saturday, Oct 5 kick-off is at 6 p.m.
Homecoming night will be on Saturday, Nov 2 against LA Valley at 6 p.m. and sophomore will be the following week against LA Southwest.
